our mission
ASOA helps vulnerable african youths,
by providing grants and strategic support to locally-rooted charities.
“ASOA’s monthly grants enable us to maintain our youth centre, where we teach subjects including maths and french to disadvantaged children, as well as providing free meals and first aid to those who need it most.”

01
EDUCATE YOUNG MINDS
Education is the most powerful long-term lever to address structural poverty.
By building foundational skills and confidence at an early age, we aim to give young people the tools to pull themselves out of tough circumstances.
ASOA directly funds the teaching of subjects like Maths, French, History, Geography and Sciences to children and youths with little-to-no access in the public school system.
We also provide equipment like pencils and workbooks to pupils whose family cannot afford them, as well as partnering with chronically underfunded public schools to improve their conditions and the quality of their teaching.
02
ALLEVIATE IMMEDIATE HARDSHIP
You can’t walk to University with a toe swollen tight with infection.
When we met Mo, he had been bed-bound for 2 weeks.
By applying simple first aid with disinfectant and fresh dressings every other day for 10 days, he was able to walk again.
Mo is just one example, but the reality is that there are thousands of individuals who suffer for years with easily treatable medical complications, as they have no access to any form of healthcare.
ASOA supports the delivery of many first aid and hygiene initiatives, including the building 16 toilets in orphanages that didn’t have one.
03
ELEVATE COMMUNITIES
For many around the world living and surviving in tough economic circumstances, community is not only a source of joyful connection, but also a lifeline in tough times.
That’s why investing in activities that strengthen bonds within local networks is invaluable.
Some examples that ASOA has funded include an under 12s football tournament, school trips to the beach and nature reserves, providing a safe space for university students to revise and women entrepreneurs to prepare meals to sell.
